The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has continued to strengthen the collection, processing, and dissemination of trade information in the country, as part of enabling traders, producers, and various stakeholders to access accurate and timely information.
This was highlighted by the Acting Manager for Research and Trade Information, Mr. Petro Matulanya, during a two-day workshop held on 17–18 August 2026 at the Jakaya Kikwete Conference Centre (JKCC), Dodoma.
Representing the Director General of TanTrade, Ms. Lulu Mkude, Director of Business Management, urged Trade Officers from regions and local government authorities to ensure that price information is collected and entered promptly into the iTMIS (Integrated Trade Management Information System) to facilitate the availability of reliable and dependable trade data for stakeholders.
Ms. Mkude explained that the iTMIS system provides crucial information on price trends, market dynamics, opportunities for Tanzanian products, trade balance, and profiles of various commercial crops. Such information is vital for traders, producers, investors, and other stakeholders in making informed decisions and seizing business opportunities.
Furthermore, TanTrade emphasized its commitment to continue promoting Tanzanian products in both domestic and international platforms, while urging Trade Officers to educate producers and traders on the importance of using the national mark “Made in Tanzania.” This initiative is part of TanTrade’s mandate to serve as the national hub for trade information, by overseeing the collection, processing, and dissemination of such data in accordance with Sections 5(2)(b) and 5(2)(d) of the TanTrade Act.
The workshop was officially opened by the Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon. Denis Londo, and concluded by Prof. Neema Mori, Chairperson of the BRELA Board, who represented the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
